I get emails all the time asking when this book or that one will be coming out. It’s gratifying that so many readers are anxious for the next books, but I’ve always got a lot of projects going on, so rather than promise when this or that title will be out, I thought I’d just let you all know what I’m working on now.
First, I’m in the middle of a big update of my Crimson Worlds series. These were my first books, and I’m sorry to say, the editing and covers were not up to the standards in my newer releases. It was high time to bring them all in line, which has been a LOT of work.
I’m also finishing the second book in the Flames of Rebellion series for Harper Voyager. It’s due in August (for a release next spring), and it wraps up that small series. My next book for them (2019 release) will be another Far Stars book, but Far Stars fans will have plenty to keep them occupied until then, as I will be releasing two more titles in the Far Stars Legends prequel series, one in late 2017, and the other in 2018.
I’m also finishing up Cauldron of Fire (Blood on the Stars 5) and The Black Flag (the long-delay finale to the Crimson Worlds Successors series). Cauldron will be out in September and The Black Flag in October.
Next in line will be The Wolf’s Claw (Far Stars Legends 2), Storm of Vengeance (Crimson Worlds Refugees 5), and Dauntless (Blood on the Stars 6). After that, I have something new I’ll be talking about here soon.
That’s all for now. As you can see, I have plenty to do!

write faster
I’ll try!
Thanks for all the great work. When will third book of Crimson Worlds Successors III The Black Flag come out???? Would love to read the next book. 5 stars!!!!!!!
Cal, thanks! Black Flag will be out in early November. Jay
Jay,
I loved Portal Wars series. I found the first three in the series to be a strong reminder about our own reality. Nicely done. I really am anxious to know what the “Darkness” threat is about. I’m looking forward to the next installment of Portal Wars.
John, I’m glad you liked the series. I was nursing the basic idea of the series for quite a while before I actually wrote it. I do plan to return and do the second planned trilogy, but right now, I couldn’t say when that might be.
Just finished Echos of Glory, couldn’t put down any of the four books and eagerly await #5 & #6! Keep writing, and I’ll keep reading. Had anyone approach ed you regarding movie/screen/tv rights etc? I ‘d watch! Thanks for all the hours of entertainment, and hope more is to come. Plenty of room for spinoff story or two…hint.
Frank, Thanks for the kind words. Always appreciated. As for movies/TV, I guess time will tell. I wouldn’t hold my breath (I’m certainly not). As for spinoffs, I did quite a bit of that from my Crimson Worlds series, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of that in Blood on the Stars as well, after book 6 is out. I’m not sure if it will be total spinoffs, or just more books (7, 8, etc.) branching into a different storyline. Or both!
Jay, l grew up on military SF in the 60’s and 70’s. Very little of it I missed. Story line is great, but we don’t usually send wonky weapons to war unsupported. Battle damage is easier to believe. Other than that I’m loving it. Keep these coming!
Thank you, Jay. The Successors series was super. I have a vision of a convergence with Refugees somewhere out in the galaxy. Also, I’m looking forward to Blood on the Stars #6. You’ve created some super characters in that series. The space battles and strategies are first class “Honorverse-esque.”
David, I’m glad you enjoyed Successors. It took me a lot longer to get to the last book than I’d expected. I’m having a good time with Blood on the Stars now. Things will shift a bit after book six, but I’m planning to keep it going for quite a while, especially if folks seem as interested as they have been.
Just finished the 4th novel of the Crimson Refugee saga; impressive. I’ll be submitting my review via my Kindle. Suffice to say I saw elements of “The Architects of Fear ” from the old “Outer Limits ” series in your book. I’m patiently waiting for book number 5!!!
Ron, thanks for the support. I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the books. Hoping to have #5 out in April, or very early May and #6 by the end of June. – Jay
