People always ask me about what is coming up next and when various things will be available. My next release, which will be right around late November, will be the long-awaited The Black Flag, the conclusion to the Crimson Worlds Successors trilogy. This one has gotten bumped several times, and I know a lot of you have been waiting for it. So, after all the postponements, it’s the next book up, and it will be out in about 6-7 weeks.
After The Black Flag will be Blood on the Stars 6, tentatively entitled, Dauntless, which should be out January 2018 (a small chance I might get it out in December).
If you’ve read Cauldron of Fire, you’ve got a good idea where Dauntless begins. Without too many spoilers, I will say that Dauntless may feel like the end of the series, but it isn’t. Blood 7 will be out sometime in the first half of 2018.
I’m going to put up another post in a couple days, with some looks at what I’m planning for 2018.
Awesome, love reading your books Jay!
Found Marines about a year ago right when I was looking for some more military sci-fi. Love the Crimson Worlds series and am enjoying Blood on the Stars as well.
Party on!
Adam, thanks! I’m glad you liked Crimson Worlds. You always have a tender spot for your first book/series!
Hi Jay, Will the Successors series just be a standalone trilogy or be continued with another arc similar to the way Crimson Worlds was (3 Trilogies, Each it’s own seperate arc)
Alfie, The Successors series is just a trilogy, but it lies on the Crimson Worlds timeline, and I do have some notions of a future series set after this one. I’m actually pretty excited about the storyline, but I’ve also got a lot on my plate, so I can’t say when those books might come out. But the story is not over!
Hi jay
Will the crimson worlds successors and refugees storylines eventually merge into one in the future?
The truth is, I DO have an outline for a future series that combines the two plotlines. I will do it at some point, but I can’t say when, exactly. My schedule is pretty booked up right now.
Hi Jay
Really liked your blood of the stars. Cannot wait for next book
Glenn – I’m glad you have enjoyed the books so far. Thanks for posting! – Jay
Would love to see Duel in the dark on the big screen.
Larry, I can’t really argue with that, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. Anyway, I’m glad you enjoyed it. – Jay
Dauntless was an epic read. I’m looking forward to the continuation of this saga. Thank you for the best science fiction I have read since the Foundation series.
Art – Thanks so much for the comment. Foundation was one of my earliest reads and certainly one of the enduring classics. –Jay
Jay congratulations on book 6 of the blood on the stars series. It was by far the best this group. Are you going to continue with the series? It appears you might be from the tidbits you left at the very end. I am somewhat sorry that you
Killed off so many of the Romans at the end of book 6.
It would seem likely that the Union will need help in Their current condition. Perhaps another race of space fairers, or lost humans will show up in the next book. While I do enjoy reading your plot lines I do have one small complaint. Almost all space opera authors have the same problem. The fighter battles which are numerous, Often are hard to follow and or confusing. The main ship battles ,on the other hand, or easy to understand and much more enjoyable to read. Just a random thought for you. Thanks and take care. Chris
Chris – Thanks for leaving a comment. I’m glad you enjoyed Dauntless. Yes, there are additional books coming in the series. I’ve got at least three more planned, and then we’ll see how the story is shaping up. Book 7 is The White Fleet, and it will be out in March. – Jay
