Some time this month, or possibly last month (it’s hard to tell since books get published in so many places), I sold my millionth book. Thinking back to when I started five years ago, that is astonishing to me, and it still doesn’t seem entirely real. I know many authors struggle for years to get noticed, but I was one of the lucky ones. My first book, Marines, took off about two weeks after I published it, and I’ve never looked back. There have been ups and downs along the way, but I’m happy to say I’m selling more books now than ever, despite a much more difficult market.
So, let me keep this short and simple, and say a heartfelt thank you to all of you, the readers who have been with me from the beginning (you guys will always have a special place in my heart), and the ones that found me along the way. I try my best to write stories you will all enjoy, but in the end, none of this would be possible without you. And, it’s not just buying and reading my books. It’s the reviews, which are so important, and so greatly appreciated, and the emails as well. The vast, vast majority of them have been amazing, and they absolutely inspire me when I think, “I can’t look at this screen for another thirty seconds.”
I’ve always thought the best way to make expressions of gratitude count was to show them, so we’ll be doing all sorts of sales and promos this month and next. I’m kicking that off by making Gehenna Dawn free until Saturday. The Portal Worlds trilogy has become somewhat lost in the shuffle with all my new series, but now you can read book one for free, with my best wishes. And, I’ve reduced the price of the other two books until Saturday as well. The Ten Thousand is just 99 cents, and Homefront, the finale, is $2.99.
Beyond my expressions of gratitude and appreciation, by way of a final five year, million book update, I’d just like to say, I’m going as strong as ever, stronger even. I’ve got a lot of projects going, books in existing series, and some totally new things coming as well. Thanks for taking the ride with me these past five years, and I hope you all stick around to see what we can do with the next five (and don’t forget to check for more sales and free books coming in the next few weeks).
